I think the wide use of colour and tender approach to the subject matter and painting style really create a atmosphere for this piece. I find the watermelon and blue glass bowl also lift my mood, and I am drawn to their certain colours, and surface/texture.
I think the mixed media and use of water colour for a dissolve effect have really worked well and are very expressive. As if the colour disperses into the atmosphere of the subject and envelopes them.  It really attracts me personally and I believe I can share the emotion or empathy for the subject.
